Facilities @ Wee Waa High SchoolWee Waa High has a broad range of facilities to assist students in achieving the most during their time at school. Some facilities are also used by community groups, such as a dance group in the hall, a folk art group in the art room and through accessing the fitness centre which is open to the general public. Agriculture PlotA quality Ag Plot is operated by Ms Caskey and consists of chickens, sheep and cattle as well as various plants / crops which are grown according to season. The annual Ag Open Day is a time for the entire community to visit the location and see the wonderful achievements happening in the facility. CanteenThe canteen is operated five days a week and takes lunch orders anytime prior to recess. Snacks and drinks can be purchased during any of the breaks and the canteen can be contacted through the school phone number. Computer FacilitiesThe school has two main computer labs, Room 5 and 6. Room 5 consists of fifteen computers for students including 4 set up for video editing and is also equiped with a fixed data projector to assist in demonstrations. During 2006 all computers were upgraded in Room 5 thanks to a Federal Government grant and additional resources continue to be installed throughout the school as part of this. Room 6 has 18 computers and is well suited for larger classes in the school, ensuring that there are enough computers for all students to have access. All staff and students have individual accounts, with junior students allocated 50MB of network storage and senior students 100MB (those working on video projects get short term upgrades to 1GB of storage). Printing is monitored, however, isn't charged for except in the Library. Digital cameras, a data projector and a video camera are available to staff through the library. Fitness CentreThe Fitness Centre is a community facility located on the edge of the school's grounds. Used by students for sport and PE, it can also be used by community members outside of school hours paid for on a daily, monthly or yearly basis. LibraryThe library is a modern facility staffed by Mrs Booby and Mrs Steele, kept well stocked with a range of fiction and non-fiction books. Computer resources are also available, including a data projector in the main lounge and two sets of computers in different locations. A printer and a photocopier are available in the library at a cost of 10c per page. The key sections of the library consist of a Main Lounge with 9 group tables set amongst the Non-Fiction books, a Conference Table frequently used by senior students and the Briefing Room which has Fiction books and the Career / Aboriginal Literacy rooms attached to. |
